Luisa Rabbia’s digital projection was inspired by archival photographs purchased by Isabella Stewart Gardner from local photographers while traveling in Imperial China in 1883. The artist indulges in photographic fantasy, image construction and drawing as she connects Gardner’s memory of China to her own internal personal geography. The book has been realized in collaboration with Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. (Charta, 2008)
