Monica Castiglioni, artista dalla personalità poliedrica, è nata a Milano e per vivere ha scelto New York. Con la stessa passione realizza gioielli, ritratti fotografici di persone che le piacciono e foto artistiche. Biografia dell'autore: Uscha Pohl is the founder and owner of VERY UP & CO (www.veryupandco.com).
She is also an editor, publisher, artist & designer, art director, curator, and
fashion consultant. Moreover, she lectures on menswear at the Royal College of
Art, London.
Having jumpstarted her career in fashion as PA and muse to Vivienne Westwood,
she left London in 1994 to open UP & CO in New York. The independent art
space gained acclaim as a launch pad for artists, while producing its eponymous
fashion label and VERY magazine.
Today VERY UP & CO is based in London, New York, and Paris. Its publications to
date include the original VERY magazine, the VERYstyleguide series (VERY Cities
and VERY Ecological Cities, VERY Fashion), VERYstylemaps, and the newly
created online publishing project www.very-eco.com. Even though Uscha Pohl
currently resides in London and Paris, she shares her passion for creativity as
well as her Tribeca home with her friend, Monica Castiglioni. Biografia dell'artista: Monica Castiglioni was born in Milan. After she received her diploma in graphic
design and attended a course in goldsmithery, she chose to dedicate herself to
creating handmade jewelry. Her works have been showcased at the Gallery
Loupe for Contemporary Art Jewelry (Montclair, New York), the Julie Artisans’
Gallery (New York), and at Pastec (New York). She is also a photographer and
has collaborated with the magazine Interior Design since 2005.
Monica Castiglioni has never taken part in photo competitions. She has exhibited
her photos for the Design Trust for Public Space, the Manichine series (2006) at
Raphael Vignoli (Van Dam St.), and the Jaywalker series at the Milk Gallery
(October 22, 2007).
In 1990 Monica Castiglioni and Natsuko Toyofuku founded the Anthias workshopstore
in Milan. Their jewelry has gained international recognition and can be
found at the following locations: MoMA’s design shop (since 1997); Dice&Dice in
Japan (since 2002); Moss and Karkula in New York (since 2003); DePadova in
Milan (2005); the Victoria & Albert Museum’s design shop (since 2006).
