| In Threefold Sun, photographer Taj Forer takes our hand and slowly leads us to people and places that have been warmed by the light of Rudolph Steiner (1861–1925), the German artist-philosopher who gave us Waldorf schools, biodynamic farming, and famous lectures illustrated with magnetic chalkboard drawings. Everyday calmness is held by a palette, at once serene and vibrant, which echoes the Goethean color theory absorbed by every Waldorf child. Beauty is provided where we might expect it (a wall of sunny children’s paintings, a tree house), but mostly where we don’t (a slightly deflated, yellow ball in a cement play yard, a sledding hill with not enough snow). Utopia is peacefully waiting in a glimmer of brightness, a patch of color, the touch of mud. Nothing happens in the land of Threefold Sun. Threefold Sun has been selected as "Best Book" for the photography exhibition at the Festival of the Photograph 2008 in Charlottesville, Virginia (June 12–14, 2008) Have a look at the inside book: Forer.pdf Reviews: Photo, November 2007 |
