This is the second volume of interviews from curator Hans Ulrich Obrist’s ongoing infinite conversation.
It contains dialogues with some of the most significant architects, artists, filmmakers, historians, musicians, philosophers and writers from the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.
The seventy interviews published in this book are taken from an archive containing nearly 2,000 hours of recordings. Arranged by the interviewees’ dates of birth, this collection reveals an intellectual geology of the last one hundred years.
Encyclopedic in scope and intimate in tone, these exchanges produce an array of biographical trajectories, cultural experiments, theoretical adventures, unrealized projects and unanticipated epiphanies.
Author biography: Hans Ulrich Obrist (Zurich, 1968) is Co-Director of Exhibitions and Programs and Director of International Projects at the Serpentine Gallery in London. Since 1991, he has curated countless international exhibitions and biennials, produced and edited many publications, and conducted numerous interviews, some of which were published in Interviews, Volume 1 (Edizioni Charta and Fondazione Pitti Immagine Discovery, 2003).
